The PHP Code Hints extension for Dreamweaver helps you write your user-defined variables and functions correctly from the start!
In versions before Dreamweaver CS5, the PHP Code Hints extension adds user-defined PHP variables and functions to the Dreamweaver code hint menu. It looks for variables and functions in the current document, as well as in any server-side included file.
From Dreamweaver CS5, the PHP Code Hints extension adds array, multidimensional array and variable variables to the list of variables that Dreamweaver CS5 now displays natively.

How to use it
In any PHP page, just save the page (File > Save or CTRL+S) and the PHP Code Hints extension will add the variables and/or custom functions it finds on the current and included pages to DW's code hints menu.
Dreamweaver CS5
- Type at least the "$" character, then hit CTRL+Space to pop PHP Code Hints open instead of Dreamweaver native code hints. Refine the selection by continuing to type or use the down and up arrow keys; hit the ENTER key to write the selected variable on your page.
Before Dreamweaver CS5
- Type "$" and refine the selection by continuing to type or use the down and up arrow keys; hit the ENTER key to write the selected variable on your page.
- Hit CTRL+SPACE BAR when writing a function name and refine the selected value by continuing to type or use the down and up arrow keys. Hit the ENTER key to write the selected function on your page.

- I don't have a PayPal account. How can I buy this extension?
You do not need a PayPal account to purchase this extension. PayPal let you use a credit card if you do not own a PayPal account.
- I have purchased your extension via PayPal. Will I receive an e-mail to this extension so I can download it?
You should have landed on a download page after the PayPal checkout. If not, just login by means of the form in the header and go to the My Account page, where you can download your products.
- I paid for this extension with my PayPal account, but have not been able to download.
You must have registered on the site with an e-mail address which is different than the one you use with your PayPal account. For security reasons, you will not be able to download your purchase before we investigate and clear it manually. Please be aware that depending on our workload and time of your request, you may have to wait a few hours or the next working day before being able to download your software.
- I purchased your extension today and it doesn't appear to work.
- Be sure to save your page first. PHP Code Hints adds your variables and functions to Dreamweaver on saving the page.
- Please check that your file is free from HTML syntax errors, as PHP Code Hints uses the Dreamweaver extension API, which requires a proper HTML syntax.
- Also check for PHP syntax errors by executing your file. You may have to restart Dreamweaver to reset PHP Code Hints and having it to work properly.
- Lastly, be sure that you have checked the Enable Code Hints option in Dreamweaver in the first place (Edit > Preferences; Code Hints from the Category list on the left.
